Career Paths in Marketing

One of the reasons why I decided to come to Kelley was its reputation for being a great school to study marketing. Let me tell you, Kelley has really lived up to it's promise! As I mentioned earlier, I am a member of the Consumer Marketing Academy. One of the things that I love about the CMA is that the academy directors do an excellent job preparing and equipping students to land and excel in the job of their dreams. Here are some common career paths for students in the CMA and why I believe that Kelley is the place to get the best consumer marketing MBA:

1) Brand Management: Several of my classmates had internships this summer working with great brands at world-class Consumer Packaged Goods companies such as Procter & Gamble, Nestle, General Mills and Kraft, just to name a few. Countless CMA alumni are working as brand managers across the country and are always happy to act as resources and mentors to current students.

2) Retail: An increasing number of students are leaning towards the exciting path of retail and are entering the field as buyers. Specialized coursework helps prepare students for this path. Retailers recruiting on-campus include Target, Supervalu, Sears, and Victoria's Secret.

3) Consumer Research: This is my passion -- I just love getting to understand the consumer and turning insights into marketing actions to meet their needs. Careers in consumer research on both the agency and manufacturer side are becoming increasingly plentiful at the MBA level. There are several opportunities to engage in consumer research projects at Kelley and companies who recruit at Kelley for consumer insights include Procter & Gamble and MillerCoors.
